Make sure your internet dialup number is a local call!
TDA provides you with an internet dialup number, and has worked hard with our internet service providers to get you a local number for your internet dialup. But changes to phone exchanges around the state happen regularly and we can't be sure your dialup number is a local call.

It is your responsibility to make sure that the number you are dialing is local. TDA will not reimburse you for dialup calls which are long distance or local toll calls. Call your local phone company to verify that your dialup number is a local call. If you find that your number is not local, contact your ISP and TDA to get a local number. (5/29/03)

Keep Up with your Learning Logs!
Do not let your learning logs get more than a few days behind! Completing all of your Learning Logs with accurate information is necessary for being awarded your Connectivity Reimbursement at the end of each Semester. It is also a factor in determining Perfect Attendance. (5/18/03)

Excused Absences Must be OK'd!
Please make sure you are emailing the Attendance Officer (Attendance_Officer@tdalearn.org) with the reason for your absence, anytime you use an excused absence in your attendance logs, or they will not be considered excused by our school. (5/4/03)

It is in Adobe Acrobat PDF format, and will require the free Adobe Acrobat Reader, which is available here. (4/7/03)

Don't Run out of Room!!!
You may already know that you're over your limit, but there is a 20 Megabyte storage limit on your TDA Firstclass account. Once you are over your limit, you won't be able to send emails, upload attachments, or post into conferences. In order to fix this, you'll need to delete some of your messages and attachments out of your folders until you're below the limit, and then wait until the next day, before you'll be able to send email.

Your account space is the accumulation of "ALL" messages and attachments that you have received or sent, in all of your folders and conferences - including messages and attachments in your mailbox, in any folders in your mailbox, in any folders on your Firstclass desktop, as well as "your" messages in all conferences you post to. The majority of the space is taken up by attachments, so if you focus on messages with attachments, you should be able to free up space fairly quickly.

If you don't have a copy of the attachments on your student storage on your blue iMac computer, then we recommend that you download attachments, so you have a copy of them filed away in appropriate folders, in case you need them. You should do this by opening the message with the attachment, then click and drag the attachment name in the list over to your student storage or a folder on student storage. This will download the attachment and save it into that folder.

If you want to keep a copy of messages before deleting them, just select all of those messages (holding the shift key down or the command key down, while clicking on them), and choose the Export command from the File menu, which will let you save them all in one shot to a chosen folder on your iMac computer.

Once you've saved a copy of all of the messages and attachments, for the ones you want to keep, just delete them by selecting them and clicking on the "trash can" icon in the toolbar. This will put them in your trash, and trash collection will free up the space the following night around 2am. After that, you'll be able to send email, attachments, and post to conferences again.

As a general rule, it's good to organize your messages and mail, but if you send a lot of attachments, make sure you delete your older mail every so often, so you don't run out of room in your 20 megabyte space. (1/2/03)

Technical Hurdles
We recognize the difficulties students, parents, and teachers sometimes experience during the process of working in a digital school environment. Students will not be penalized due to these technological hurdles - as long as you report your problem to the Help Desk, indicate in your learning logs that you are absent due to Technical difficulties, and send an email to "Attendance Officer" regarding your problem. Once we confirm the problem with the Help Desk, the Attendance Officer will mark you as excused. Teachers are aware of these occasional technical difficulties.

Please keep your completed assignments in the student storage space on your hard drive as a backup, so that if email problems arise, you can always resend them when they are resolved.

Even if you have technical difficulties, students still need to continue logging their time in the Learning Logs. (6/18/03)
